Firaxis announces Civilization VI: Rise and Fall expansion

Civilizations can now go through Dark Ages, Golden Ages, as well as Heroic Ages, with each age giving cultures various challenges to overcome and bonuses to make use of.

The expansion will also add nine new leaders, and eight new civilisations with a wealth of new units, buildings, wonders, new districts and more for each.

Rise and Fall brings new choices, strategies, and challenges for players as they guide a civilization through the ages.

One of the biggest new additions in the Rise & Fall expansion is its introduction of 'Historic Moments, ' in which expands the traditional Golden Age system into including Dark Ages. A new loyalty system will reward or punish you for your management your cities.

Firaxis Games and 2K have today announced the upcoming release of a new expansion for the latest entry in their long-running strategy series Civilization VI entitled Rise & Fall. Rise triumphantly from a Dark Age, and your next Golden Age will be even stronger - a Heroic Age. For those of you that want to take a look back at your civilization's history during the game, a Timeline feature has also been added to enable exactly that. But one civilization's loss can be your gain as you inspire Loyalty among cities throughout the map and further expand your borders. Governors will also be able to be appointed to these cities, offering unique specialisations and promotion trees that help increase a city's loyalty. When a civilisation grows too powerful, other civilisations can join a pact against the threatening civilisation and earn rewards. "In this expansion, systems are very much tied to the idea of the 'game era, ' which is determined by individual player advancement and a few other behind-the-scenes adjustments".

TIMELINE: Review your civilization's history at any time with the new Timeline feature, a visual journey through the Historic Moments that you encountered on your path to victory.

Civilization VI has seen constant incremental updates since its launch, such as new races, and modding tools.
