Lincoln Nautilus SUV packs luxury and safety tech galore

The 2019 Nautilus will hit Canadian dealerships in early 2018 at a not-yet-disclosed price. The Nautilus is a replacement for the MKX, Lincoln's mid-size luxury SUV.

For the 2019 model, Lincoln's stylists have reworked the design to include more luxury touches, five new sets of wheels as well as new colors.

And no-just because there is now a Navigator and a Nautilus, all Lincoln SUVs do not have to start with "N", Parker confirmed.

Parker said the letter-based nomenclature was particularly challenging for customers in China, which has emerged as a key market in Lincoln's third year selling vehicles there.

Nautilus is offered with available Ultra Comfort seats that have 22 different adjustments along with lumbar massage to reduce fatigue. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard and soft material is used throughout the in interior. Plus 13-speaker and 19-speaker Revel audio systems are available.

Experimentation with ownership benefits, new purchase and service methodologies, vehicle subscription services (coming to California in 2018), and even personal drivers that will ferry you about in your own auto and run errands for you are demonstrating to Lincoln that affluent people increasingly care more about such experiences than they do possession of an object. The vehicle has SYNC 2 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

A standard estimated 245-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is efficient and smooth in operation.

The Nautilus will also be equipped with a suite of Lincoln-first driver assistance technology.

"The technology in this vehicle is thoughtful and purposeful", said Galhotra.

"This kind of connection that consumers have, especially with American brands and names, we felt like, is something that Lincoln could own, it's something we've owned in the past, and bringing those two back together, it does make it a bit more effortless for customers".

Lincoln has infused the Nautilus with much more tech than before; features like the lane-centering feature which "helps subtly maintain the vehicle's position in its lane", adaptive cruise control and Evasive Steer Assist. If there is not enough braking space to avoid the crunch, the system actively helps the driver steer around the incident. Lincoln is the only luxury automaker to provide Pickup and Delivery as a standard service for all its vehicles to save clients time and effort. Now in a pilot via 10 dealers nationwide, the service includes test drives and sales completion at customer homes.

Additionally, starting January 1, 2018, new Lincoln owners will receive a six-month complimentary CLEAR membership, allowing them to speed through security at participating airports and major arenas nationwide. Lincoln Black Label members, who pay for additional services, will receive a 12-month complimentary membership.
