Manushi, born to doctor parents, studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat. She became the sixth Indian woman to be crowned as the Miss World after Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999) and Priyanka Chopra (2000). Manushi Chhillar and the other four finalists had to face the question and answer round which would determine the Miss World.

Ms. Chhillar on Saturday won the title at a glittering event in Sanya, China, ending a 16 year drought for India at the global pageant. "Manushi was chosen to represent the country after winning the fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2017". The last Indian to win Miss World title was Priyanka Chopra, who wore the crown in 2000.

Manushi won hearts with her response to the questions post getting the top five spot.

The announcement about Chhillar winning the Miss World crown was also made on the pageant's official Twitter handle as well as on its Facebook page. Then she replied, "Mothers deserve the highest respect". Mexico's Andrea Meza was the second runner-up while England's Stephanie was awarded first runner-up. My mother has always been the biggest inspiration in my life.

Chhillar was handed the crown by last year's victor, Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico, at the ceremony in the Chinese coastal city of Sanya on Saturday night. "A mother deserves that the most".

According to Chhillar's profile on the Miss World website, she aims to be a cardiac surgeon and wants to open a chain of non-profitable hospitals based in rural areas.
