You can now download Google's Files Go app from the Play Store

But it's very clean in terms of design, there are no ads to spoil the experience and it's just a very nice free file manager.

In response to the leaked app getting reposted and covered by many other outlets, Caesar Sengupta, a member of the Google Team in Singapore has tweeted a link for the same app, this time back on the Play Store, at the same web address as the broken link from the original story.

Files Go is a free download here on Google Play. This is partially how it managed to bypass the vetting process since this isn't a dummy app. Since the app has complete functionality, target user is also less likely to be suspicious of its activities. Primarily, it gives you a simple way to share files between devices when you don't have a network connection, but the secondary functions seem pretty handy too. Underneath are cards are various suggestions of files that can be deleted to make space. Files To Go recommends you to remove the rarely-used apps from your phone to improve its speed.

For example, there's also a duplicate image finder option that quickly rids you of space-wasting snaps or spam images sent to you on WhatsApp. Although it's still not clear how this feature works just yet, we're assuming it involves Bluetooth, sort of like Apple's Airdrop feature.

To access the Settings menu in Files Go, tap the three-dot button in the upper corner from the Storage or Files tabs and select Settings. With Files Go, Android device owners can maximise their phone's storage.
