Instagram Curating Private Archive For Your Instagram Stories

Instagram Curating Private Archive For Your Instagram Stories

Throughout 2017, we've seen Instagram roll out new features Stories at a fairly consistent pace.

It's that sentiment that has driven the biggest Instagram profile update since 2013: as of December 5, users will be able to keep their Stories forever using the new Archive function - and display the ones they're oh so proud of in a brand-new section at the top of each user's profile called Highlights. Now you can more fully express your identity by grouping stories you've shared into highlights and featuring them on your profile. There will be a new icon for the Archive feature on your profile which will let you access all of that content.

You can tap on any story in your archive to watch it.

"From the best moments of your ongoing soccer season to all the stories you capture of your loved ones, the interests and activities that matter most to you have a home right on your profile". Starting today, any Stories that expire will now be automatically stored in the user's archive for later viewing.

The first new feature is a Story Archive. Only you can see your archive, and Stories will sit separately from regular posts.

That day-long deadline has been a central part of stories since they launched, with the idea that they would disappear quickly and encourage people not to overthink their posts. Though we did have the option to pick and choose which stories to download (and still do), this will make it easier and not something that you have to moderate yourself. From there, you can add it to your story, share it as a post or add it to a highlight on your profile.

Yemen's Former President Saleh Killed After Houthis Stop His Motorcade
Earlier on Monday, a Sanaa-based activist said that the Houthis had gained control of most of Sanaa from Saleh's forces. That dealt a serious blow to his already fragile alliance with rebel chief Abdul Malik al-Huthi.

One annoying thing is that your newest Stories appear at the bottom of the grid instead of the top. Just go to your profile settings and toggle off Auto-archiving.

To create a highlight, tap the circular "new" icon under your main profile picture.

Tap Next when you have your Stories selected. And it gives people a new way to highlight them afterwards, with a major new change to the way profiles work.

Then, you can choose from your archive, select a cover, and give it a name.

This will prompt you to take a photo, which will be included in the message along with the photo you received. There's no limit to how many you can add, but if you get exhausted of a particular highlight you can delete it or edit it.

Adding more photos or videos to your highlight works the same way.
