Is Elon Musk Launching his vehicle into Space? Likely

Always willing to up the stakes of an already hard situation, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has said the first flight of his company's Falcon Heavy rocket will be used to send a Tesla Roadster into space. SpaceX aims to use it for missions to the Moon and Mars.

Just weeks after debuting Tesla's 2020 Roadster, Elon Musk has announced that his personal, midnight cherry Tesla Roadster will be the payload for SpaceX's latest rocket launch.

SpaceX successfully completed a "static fire test" of the "world's most powerful" rocket back in May. Musk began by revealing details of the first Falcon Heavy launch, which is scheduled to take place next month, "from Apollo 11 pad at the Cape. Will be in deep space for a billion years or so if it doesn't blow up on ascent".

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Musk said at a press conference that "Falcon Heavy" might not even make it to orbit the first time it leaves the atmosphere.

Marlins Agree to Giancarlo Stanton Trade Framework With Cardinals, Giants
The Marlins are reportedly only willing to pick up $45 million of Stanton's contract to make the deal work. Stanton would help the Giants in the home run department as they finished dead last in home runs in 2017.

In the meantime, the Falcon Heavy is meant to boost the amount of cargo SpaceX can take into space for its customers. Rather fittingly, the vehicle will play David Bowie's 1969 classic "Space Oddity" as it orbits Mars.

It's an impressive piece of engineering, able to lift into orbit three times more than the current successful Falcon 9 can (63.8 metric tonnes, compared with 22.8 metric tonnes).

Musk has spoken openly about the non-zero chance that the Falcon Heavy will explode during its first flight, and because of that he once said he wanted stick the "silliest thing we can imagine" on top of the rocket. Falcon Heavy missions will send large payloads to orbit inside a composite fairing, which will protect satellites during delivery to destinations including low Earth orbit, geosynchronous transfer orbit, and geosynchronous orbit.

Elon Musk is all set to send the first human settlers to Mars by 2024.
