Salvation Army, United Blood Services Need Your Help

Canadian Blood Services has seen a notable increase in donations since December 18, when it issued an urgent call for eligible donors to fill 35,000 open appointments across Canada by January 6.

Mike Stredder, director of blood donation at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: "It's New Year and like many of us, you may be thinking about the year ahead and some changes you'd like to make to your life".

"It can be tough during the holiday season to take an hour to give blood", said Rick Prinzen, chief supply chain officer for the CBS.

Shaun Richer, Canadian Blood Services territory manager for Red Deer and Central Alberta, said the number of donors needed locally is comparable to last Christmas.

Sam Nammoura, spokesman for the group, told the Calgary Herald: "In Syria, the donation of blood is considered the highest form of loyalty to the community".

Clinics will be held at the Pictou Armouries from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, and at Summer Street Industries on Wednesday, Jan. 3, from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., as well as Thursday, Jan. 4, from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.

Chiefs Will Start QB Patrick Mahomes On Sunday
Accordingly, Mahomes will get the first-team snaps in practice this week, while Smith will run the scout-team offense. The son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Patrick Mahomes Sr., Mahomes II is listed at 6-foot-3.

All blood types are encouraged to donate, but the supply of O-negative blood is in demand because it can be used by any recipient regardless their blood type.

"People in Pictou County are very generous and loyal and we appreciate their support", said MacDonald.

The New Liskeard Blood Donor Clinic has 120 spots to fill.

This can be for various reasons and blood, platelets and plasma are always needed.

Book an appointment by downloading the GiveBlood app or visit blood.ca.

Blood and blood products are a critical part of every day medical care including major surgeries, medical procedures, cancer treatments and managing disease.
