23 hurt, including firefighter, in New York City blaze

OVER two hundred firefighters battled for hours to stamp out a massive blaze as it tore through a Bronx apartment building - a week after 12 died in New York's deadliest fire for years.

As flames worked their way upward from a furniture store to the flats above, families, including children, were forced out into historically low winter temperatures.

The fire started in the Bronx building at about 5.30 a.m. and spread to multiple floors, express.co.uk reported.

Flames and smoke could be seen pouring from the building.

"Our units arrived and were immediately faced with heavy fire".

'Kanna, please wait for 10 more minutes,' says actor on political entry
Amid thunderous applause, the actor, clad in a white kurta, asked "war means only election". "I will come into politics". He has said that he is starting his own political party and will be launching it prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Adults and children fled from the three stories of apartments above, including a man who ran outside with no shirt and no shoes.

The fire went to six alarms and dozens of fire vehicles were on scene as thick smoke poured out of the building and flames were through the roof. People had very little time to react.

The multi-storey building is situated on the corner of the Commonwealth and Bronx River avenues in Van Nest.

The latest blaze came less than a week after another fire in the Bronx killed 12 people. Mayor Bill de Blasio said a child playing with a stove apparently touched off last week's blaze.
