"Acer Swift 7" Is Also The Most Expensive One At CES 2018

The updated Nitro 5 is aimed at more casual gamers, with a low $799 starting price. It says that the Swift 7 "ships with a Transatel profile provisioned with up to 1GB of free data valid for one month in 48 countries". It provides a reliable wireless connection with 802.11ac (4) WiFi featuring 2×2 MIMO technology as well as Bluetooth 4.0. Acer also revealed availability for the Switch 7 Black Edition and Predator Orion 9000 Series, which were both unveiled at IFA previous year. The Nitro 5's internal solid-state drive is available up to 512 GB, plenty of storage for the latest gaming titles, music and movies. It isn't aggressively designed and is surprisingly affordable for those looking to game at 1080p. The Acer Swift 7 will be available in North America in March with prices starting at US$ 1,699; and in EMEA in April with prices starting at Euro 1,699.

Interestingly, there's a nano SIM slot next to the power-on button, for on-the-go 4G (not specified in all models). The laptop ultrabook is being marketed as the world's thinnest laptop at just 8.98 millimeters thick.

"We're extremely proud to make the world's thinnest laptop even thinner with the new Swift 7", said Jerry Kao, President of IT Products Business of Acer Inc. while commenting on the launch. Its aluminium chassis measures an astonishing 8.98mm with the lid closed and it's ludicrously light as well. The computer also includes two USB 3.1 Type-C ports for data transfers, charging and display output.

The report also claimed that the smartphone would be available for purchase exclusively through Amazon India at present. They made both the options available in the market in Silver and Black colour models.

Other perks include a generous 8GB of RAM and a fully backlit keyboard.

Such claims are all well and good but if the thin laptops can't fit in a decent spec then the whole thing becomes very much a tech willy-waving contest only with the idea that smaller is better.

One of the key features of the new Swift 7 is its support for Intel XMM based 4G LTE connectivity. Its fanless design is made for those who will use it in shared spaces, such as students, and it comes with an 11.6-inch display. In the United States and Europe, prices start at $249 and €249.

Elsewhere, there are two USB-Type A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card reader. It is backed by up to 32GB of RAM, and coupled up to 512GB SATA SSD. This new version, however, will retail for USD1,699 (around RM6,783). It has an attractive textured plastic blue shell and a lightweight, compact design.
