Search underway for woman who fell overboard on cruise

A woman travelling on a Carnival cruise ship from New Orleans went missing after falling overboard in the Gulf of Mexico, according to reports.

A search is now underway for a woman who went overboard the Carnival Triumph cruise ship which is based out of New Orleans.

Search and rescue operations are underway, and Carnival's CARE Team "is providing support and assistance to the guest's family", Gulliksen said.

Carnival officials said the Triumph is now en route to Cozumel.

The ship, which was on a four-day Bahamas cruise from Jacksonville that departed Thursday, was near Freeport, Bahamas, at the time of the incident. "They were taking pictures [and everything]", the text message read.

LLOYDS has announced a £50million package of support to its small business customers to help them cope with the Carillion crisis. Meanwhile Nationwide Building Society will employ around 250 contractors from the company, meaning their jobs will be saved.

She fell onto a deck "several" stories below, Gulliksen said on Friday.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, died early Friday morning on the Elation, which was traveling from Jacksonville, Florida to The Bahamas, the Miami Herald reported. While the ship is now moving toward its next port of call, passengers aboard the ship report that the Captain informed them the Mexican authorities would continue the search.

This was the second risky fall aboard a Carnival cruise ship over the weekend.

That is the equivalent of two floors as the ship does not have a deck 13.
