Snow, ice cause delays at Louisville Airport

Leslie Housen captured this video while driving through the dust storm in Midland, Texas. "A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for Thursday and Friday along the Continental Divide, with snow totals as high as 18" in the mountains by Saturday.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for areas west of Interstate 65 in Middle Tennessee as well as locations in southern Kentucky.

Winds at times could be damaging.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies and single digit low temperatures return, with a low of 9 degrees.

Another blast of cold air is moving in with this storm system. Rain turns to freezing rain. As it does, temperatures will drop, and an icy mix of sleet and freezing rain will develop.

The Mon Parking Wharf was closed early in the afternoon Friday because of the record rainfall and melting snow.

Places such as Little Rock, Arkansas, have already experienced this change.

The winter storm that moved across the Ohio Valley yesterday left the most snow of any system so far this winter.which is not saying much. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible.

About 100 miles east of Penfield in Niagra Falls, New York, .07 inches of ice had stacked up on Friday before snow started to blanket the area. Highest amounts are expected to be in central and northern Kansas, but most of the state will see some snow. Around 1 inch for Nashville and areas along I-40.

West Virginia, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and NY, are also under water in some areas.

Colder weather is in the forecast for Sunday and early next work.

The now experiencing a La Niña winter, the second in a row. The temperatures the past few days have been a nice reprieve from the cold, but it has lead to rapid snow melt. Rain is likely to accompany the warmer weather.
