Twitter explains why it hasn't banned President Trump

Twitter Inc on Friday reiterated its stance that accounts belonging to world leaders have special status on the social media network, pushing back against users who have called on the company to banish U.S. President Donald Trump.

It said such a move would also not silence a world leader, but it "would certainly hamper necessary discussion around their words and actions".

"As long as he is CEO of Twitter and Square, they can not be considered moral tech companies, and the board of directors of both should do the right thing and insist that either Trump or Jack must go", the group, which was formed past year during the protests against President Trump's Muslim-majority-country travel ban, said in a statement Wednesday.

President Trump's provocative tweet aimed at North Korean leader Kim Jung Un triggered questions to the White House on Wednesday about his fitness for office.

Shortly after users reported the tweet, Twitter responded, confirming Trump's tweet did not violate the platform's rules against abusive behavior.

Twitter made no specific reference to Trump or his tweet this week saying he has a "nuclear button" which is "bigger and more powerful" than that of North Korea's.

Bellerin's late strike prevented Chelsea from reclaiming second pace from Manchester United. He will complete it with the league game against Bournemouth on January 14.

Twitter said then that it considered the president's tweet "newsworthy". The company also introduced new policies last month that specifically exempted "military or government" groups from its policies prohibiting accounts that "use or promote violence against civilians to further their causes". "We review Tweets by leaders within the political context that defines them, and enforce our rules accordingly", it said.

The statement left open the possibility however that Twitter could remove specific tweets from political leaders which violate its policies.

It went on to assure readers that "no one person's account drives Twitter's growth, or influences these decisions".

It added: "We work hard to remain unbiased with the public interest in mind".

A Twitter spokeswoman said the company would have no comment on the calls for Dorsey's resignation.

"It's a running joke [in the West Wing] that nuclear war could start from the private residence during Fox [News] primetime", one senior Trump aide told The Daily Beast.
