Alpine skiing: Taking risks could backfire in Pyeongchang - Milller

This is Vonn's fourth Olympics.

The world learned about all of this from Lindsey Vonn herself on, where else, Twitter.

The 33-year-old American skiing star missed the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi after having surgery on her right knee.

When Vonn's trip to South Korea turned into a 24-hour ordeal of that special frustration that is an airline delay, there was a moment or two when she wondered if bringing Lucy along for the ride was a great idea.

"The regard they have for each other is extraordinary".

Hosted by former Olympic figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir, The Best of U.S.: The 2018 Winter Olympics shone a light on the best athletes from Team U.S.A. who will compete in South Korea.

But the relatively risk-free course could quickly turn risky for skiers desperate to make the most of their shot at an Olympic podium by throwing caution to the wind.

On Sunday, the three-time Olympian won her third straight world cup downhill and capture her 81st world cup win. She plans to enter the Alpine combined as her final event February 23.

Shiffrin, meanwhile, can - indeed, will be expected to - become the first with consecutive slalom golds; she won five of the past six World Cup slaloms she entered.

Swaraj to inaugurate cultural festival of Saudi Arabia today
Large number of people turned up to listen to the speech of Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Saudi Arabia. The External Affairs Minister reached Riyadh on Tuesday on her first official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia .

"Ah it's really hard".

Their widely lauded work ethic and fitness training. They've always been friends. She is able to get so far over on her edges and pick up speed through the turn, she will be the one to beat in South Korea. "As in, I am not going to stop skiing until I reach that".

For Mikaela Shiffrin, talent isn't everything. "I want so badly to do well for him". In her young career, she's already recorded 41 career victories, which is already the second-most of any American woman, behind only Vonn who has 77.

So Vonn is thrilled to be back on her sport's most visible stage.

"Lindsey was one of my really biggest idols growing up". I got her two and a half years ago. Vonn beat her by only 0.11 seconds.

'I feel like I'm coming into these Olympics on a hot streak, ' she said. "I know he's looking out for me", she said, "and that actually gives me a lot of peace of mind".

While their careers have overlapped, they have not faced off much for a variety of factors.

In PyeongChang, Vonn will compete in downhill, super-G and the combined.
