Apple's HomePod makes a mark... literally

Apple said the problem occurs with speakers that, like the HomePod, are equipped with a silicon base to minimize vibration.

Another post on Pocket-Lint said the mark appeared after just 20 minutes of the HomePod sitting on a oak kitchen countertop. So, they will damage your wood furniture, too. According to Apple, the marks can fade over the course of several days after the HomePod is removed, and if that doesn't work, you should clean the surface with the manufacturer's suggested oiling method. The company at the launch of the Siri-enabled HomePod did not mention of any white ring nor did it warn the users for not placing the speaker on any wooden surface.

We had our speaker on a wooden surface in our testing, but it was a thinner (well, cheaper) wood, and found no example of the staining. but it seems that more porous, expensive veneers are those in danger.

The letter from Nirav Modi says he would sell the company to raise funds and the valuation is pegged at Rs 6,000 crore. On January 3 , 2018, the bank got to know that two staffers were involved in unauthorised transactions .

Apple has confirmed that its recently released smart speaker can damage wood furniture, by leaving behind a nasty white ring on the surface.

HomePod is Apple's answer to Amazon's Echo and Google Home. I would be more pissed at the fact that Apple's advice is to "just refinish your furniture or place it on a different surface" At that point, I would spend less money for a product that wouldn't potentially permanently damage my furniture. If users want to create multiple timers using Apple's smart speaker, all they must do is create a set of reminders. The company later published a support document stating that the only real fix would be to not place HomePod on wooden surfaces, which isn't a good answer for a product that could allegedly be placed "anywhere". If you are really going to put the HomePod on wood, then make sure that there is a piece of cloth placed between both surfaces to prevent the irreparable harm.

The tech giant adds that the marks should disappear "after several days" or after they've been wiped with a cloth. If you're still having issues, Apple advises you follow the furniture's recommended cleaning processor or put your speaker somewhere else.
