Pakistan developing new kinds of nuke weapons: US Intel chief

USA intelligence officials said Russian President Vladimir Putin meddled in the 2016 US election, and now, with critical elections coming up in November and control of Congress at stake, officials said Tuesday that Putin is at it again.

WASHINGTON-The U.S. director of national intelligence warned on Tuesday that time was running out for the United States to act on the threat posed by North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

The report predicted Russian intelligence agencies will disseminate more false information over Russian state-controlled media and through fake online personas to spread anti-American views and exacerbate social and political divides in the United States.

The nation's top intelligence chiefs were united Tuesday in declaring that Russian Federation is continuing efforts to disrupt the US political system and is targeting the 2018 midterm election, following its successful operation to sow discord in the most recent presidential campaign.

Other senators asked Coats, Pompeo, Wray and their counterparts to restate their support for the 2017 assessment that concluded Russian Federation had attacked the previous year's election.

"In the next year, Russian intelligence and security services will continue to probe USA and allied critical infrastructures, as well as target the United States, Nato, and allies for insights into U.S. policy", the report said. "This is not going to change or stop", Rogers said.

Democrats expressed concern that President Donald Trump's anger over the investigation into whether his campaign concluded with the Russians in 2016 will undercut the government's ability to respond forcefully to continued Russian interference.

On Wednesday, United States and its allies have tabled a motion with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to place Pakistan on the watch list of countries which are considered "non-compliant with global anti-terror financing measures", said an exclusive report of the Reuters.

It was first operated by Rossiya Airlines, including on worldwide routes, and then was leased to Saratov Airlines. The Tass news agency says the plane fragments were found in the Ramenskoye area about 40km from the airport.

And after the Congress took real action against Russian Federation by slapping it with major sanctions in response to the interference, Trump completely undermined their work by declining to enforce the sanctions.

Even so, the intelligence agencies say they aren't sitting still.

Trump has cast doubt on the notion that there was Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign, presenting it as sour grapes from supporters of defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton. They said there were concerns the Chinese companies would use their access to spy on US officials, and USA intelligence chiefs appeared to agree on Tuesday.

"Frankly, the United States is under attack", he said. "In particular, I'm anxious about the close relationship between the Chinese government and Chinese technology firms, particularly in the area of commercialisation of our surveillance technology and efforts to shape telecommunication equipment markets", he said.

Many experts, meanwhile, believe that Russian meddling in the presidential race was but a foretaste of what is to come - not just from the Kremlin, but also from other hostile states and private actors.

Putin and his officials have vehemently denied any and all suggestions that they meddled in the 2016 presidential election, accusing the US of stoking Russophobia.
