Police Officer Killed, Two Others Shot

One police officer was killed and two deputies were shot Friday morning while serving an arrest warrant in Locust Grove, Georgia, located about 40 minutes south of Atlanta. Two Henry County sheriff's deputies were also injured.

Henry County Sheriff Keith McBrayer announced the death at an afternoon news conference.

He had been with the Locust Grove police for about five years.

But while trying to serve the warrant, an altercation broke out, according to the sheriff, and all three officers were shot. He has not yet been identified by authorities pending a family notification.

The brother said the bullet hit Deputy Corley's vest, which saved his life.

There were other people in the residence at the time of the shooting, the sheriff added, but none of them were injured.

The suspect was killed by one of the officers, the GBI said. "It is a very emotional time for the Henry County community".
