Russian Federation seeks to regulate private military contractors

The US-led coalition said it repelled that attack near the Euphrates River by hundreds of troops aligned with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who were backed by artillery, tanks, multiple-launch rocket systems and mortars.

The Russian Defense Ministry, which insisted that its troops weren't involved in the incident, said 25 Syrian volunteers were wounded in the US strike.

However, reports have surfaced alleging that at least five Russian men fighting informally with pro-government forces were killed in last week's clashes.

A Cossack organization in Kaliningrad posted on social media that one of its members had also been killed, and the independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta, citing unnamed sources, reported that 13 Russians were killed and another 15 wounded. Maxim Buga, a leader of the Cossack community there, said Loginov had been killed around February 7 along with "dozens" of other Russian fighters.

Russian news media reported that they had confirmed the deaths of several other military contractors, as well.

"I can't give you anything on that, we have not received that word at Central Command or the Pentagon", he said.

Russian Federation has not confirmed the deaths that were first reported by U.S. media, saying such reports should not be treated as "primary sources".

Russian Federation also denies having personnel in the area.

"Of course it's bad when Russians die from American weapons and we can't say it will have a good impact on our relations", said Vitaly Naumkin, a senior adviser to the Russian government on Syria.

Of course, if indeed Russian soldiers were killed while fighting under covert circumstances - in the same way as killed U.S. According to Bloomberg, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with President Trump by phone on Monday, but the incident was not discussed. "It is notable that the posts about their deaths emerged rather quickly - relatives and colleagues often learn of Russian mercenaries' deaths weeks or even months after the fact", the group said in a Facebook post.

Passenger plane crashes after leaving Moscow
It was first operated by Rossiya Airlines, including on worldwide routes, and then was leased to Saratov Airlines. The Tass news agency says the plane fragments were found in the Ramenskoye area about 40km from the airport.

Analysts have grown increasingly concerned that the conflict in Syria could spill well beyond its borders, given the number of powers engaged in the country.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday: "We have no information regarding other Russians who may be in Syria".

According to the above named reports, the Russian military were among Syrian forces targeted coalition of Hasama.

But analysts believe Russian Federation is using so-called private security firms to avoid deaths among its conscript army which could prove unpopular with its citizens - especially in the year of its presidential election.

"Coalition officials were in regular communication with Russian counterparts before, during and after the thwarted, unprovoked attack", U.S. Colonel Thomas F. Veale, a military spokesman, said in a statement.

We don't run a whole lot of news on the geopolitical and military fronts, but we think we found a story today that everyone needs to be wary of.

However, Russian law forbids the hiring of mercenaries or working as one.

They are believed to have been employed by a private Russian company called Wagner.

It remains unknown who was paying the Russian fighters, whether it was Russia itself, Syria, or Iran. The firm has not commented on the reports.

"If Russians are among those who were killed, this would mark the first time a U.S. air strike has killed Russians in Syria", CBS News' David Martin reported. He noted that the Russian military could have been unaware of the contractors' involvement in the attacking force because coordination between them has been very poor.
