Chicago Fire actress DeShon Monique Brown dead at 49

The actress had checked herself into the hospital earlier that week, the Sun reported, following complaints of chest pains. According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, DuShon died shortly after 12:00 St. James Olympia Field Hospital.

'Our thoughts and prayers are with DuShon's family and we will all miss her'.

"The Chicago Fire family is devastated to lose one of its own", executive producer Dick Wolf said in a statement to E!

"I just found out that the woman who played Connie, DuShon Monique Brown, on Chicago Fire lost her life today".

Brown had played the role of administrator Connie on Chicago Fire since the show's first season in 2012. She also portrayedNurse Katie Welch on the Fox series Prison Break and starred in the film One Small Hitch. She was also head of the school's drama programme. She loved playing the character and joked about some ways to get her some more screen time. She was a noun. She was also on "Prison Break" from 2005 to 2007. She was called Nurse and she started out on a one-liner.

Brown, a Chicago native, was a longtime theater actor before segueing to television, having performed at the Goodman, Victory Gardens, Lookingglass, Drury Lane, MPAACT and Pegasus Players in Chicago.

She is survived by her daughter.

Brown was a graduate of Governors State University, with a master's degree in school counseling; she previously served as a crisis counselor at Kenwood Academy High School, where she also led the school's Drama Starz Program.
