Firefighters battling major blaze at Dublin hotel

Dublin Fire Brigade says it's had four engines on the scene overnight to dampen down and extinguish hot spots after the huge blaze at the Metro Hotel.

The Metro Hotel was used to house homeless families in the Dublin area, according to reports.This video shows flames bursting from the top floors of the building. It is not yet known if the upper storeys of the hotel were occupied at the time the fire broke out.

The hotel was used as temporary, homeless accommodation in recent years, but there are no families living there now.

Anthony Flynn, CEO of Inner City Housing Homeless, told The Journal that he was in contact with Dublin City Council.

Traffic diversions were in place around the hotel. The hotel is a short drive from Dublin airport.

More than 150 guests of a Dublin Hotel are safe after the hotel was evacuated.
