Google may change this Android name

If you are desperately into wearables or love donning smartwatches, this should concern you most likely.

Google launched the new payment services and they are promoting the Android Wear in the same way they have done branding new pay app.

Android Wear might soon drop the first part of its name, thus becoming just "Wear OS" and nothing more. However, thanks to lackluster hardware that was released to debut Android Wear 2.0, the platform's kind of been in a rut for over a year now.

Android Wear is pretty much at a standstill right now. Companies like HUGO BOSS, TAG Heuer, Emporio Armani are already involved with Android Wear.

The new icon comes with Google's own colorful styling with W logo.

Digital Trends has the scoop on the changes that Google appears to be mulling over.

Recently, Google has after a long time, at least in the fast era of technology, officially made their Len available to non-Google or Android phones that have Google Photos installed. There might be a reason to step away from the Android name.

This function alerts the Android Wear users about a nearby Android Wear device to pair up with it to your current Android Wear device.

We decompiled the Google Play Services beta APK, and indeed found several references to Wear OS throughout the strings. Since, Android Wear devices are actually compatible with both iOS and Android, Google may be intending to make this clearer to smartwatch buyers. This rebranding may help Google to strengthen its market share in the wearable segment to compete with its arch-rival Apple. Now, the company is aiming towards changing the name of the OS with Wear OS as all the new reports confirmed the same news.
