Samsung Galaxy S9's Camera beats Google Pixel 2 with Record DxOMark Score

DxOMark had high praise for the Galaxy S9+ as well, saying it is "without any real weaknesses in the camera department" and delivers "consistently good photo and video image quality in all light and shooting situations", thus earning the benchmark's highest score to date.

It has a similar dual-camera setup as is found in the Galaxy Note 8, but it has a very big new trick up its sleeve, a variable-aperture lens on the main camera. The previous leader was the Google Pixel 2 with a score of 98, followed by the iPhone X with a score of 97. The total score is the average of the points garnered in the still camera and video performance tests but it is in the still camera aspect where the Samsung flagship excelled. DxOMark reported that the Galaxy S9+ sports a camera that performs well across photo and video tests, and comes with no obvious weaknesses. Both the devices shoot on fixed apertures of f/1.5 and f/2.4 where the camera shoots using the f/2.4 and switches to f/1.5 in low-light conditions of less than 100 lux.

According to DxOMark, the Galaxy S9+'s dual camera system is based on that of last year's Note8, which still scores highly in the ratings with a 94 score and a 6th place finish. On the whole, the S9 Plus received an incredible score of 104 for photos and 91 for videos, which is what gives the average score of 99.

Spain's La Liga on Friday began training officials ahead of the technology's expected introduction next season. IFAB have crowned the decision as a historic step toward greater fairness in football .

Their official blog states that "DxOMark's Mobile scores and rankings are based on testing every camera using an identical, extensive process that includes shooting almost 1,500 images and dozens of clips totaling more than two hours of video".

If the ultra-luxe Galaxy S9 isn't up your alley, here are a few other deals that look good this weekend. Both the smartphones are scheduled to launch in India on March 6.
