That Spider-Man game for PS4 that's been in the works from Insomniac for what seems like forever finally has an official release date: September 7, 2018.

Game Informer have released some exclusive news regarding the release of Insomniac Games's newest title, Spider-Man, including a new trailer and release date.

The magazine promises to deliver loads of exclusive content featuring the game. Spider-Man will release on September 7. So it doesn't sound like it will be story-driven DLC that completes the story so much as "more adventures starring Spider-Man".

This is Insomniac's first licensed game in over 20 years, as the company has mainly dealt with its own original properties like Spyro, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance.

Some of the big takeaways are that Spider-Man will have absolutely no microtransactions, play at 30fps on both base PS4 and Pro, include a photo mode, and in some way feature a playable MJ which we heard about previous year.

The game's post-launch DLC will come in the form of a three-part campaign called Marvel's Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps.

The studio also revealed the freedom they had on choosing a game to develop.

The collector's edition has all the content of the digital deluxe edition along with a steelbook case, a mini artbook and a Spider-Man statue.

That's a lot of info - but I realize some of you have been dying to get your hands on new information about the game itself as we haven't said much since Paris Games Week and PSX a year ago. Judging by the list of details, though, Insomniac are investing heavily in the RPG-lite mechanics for Spider-Man.

People who pre-order the game at select retailers will be greeted to a Spider-Man Physical Pin, so long as supplies last. More information can be found on Game Informer's website. It's been shown off in an E3 trailer, and another one from Paris Games Week. Swirling all around Manhattan at a faster pace than ever before, Spider-Man is yet to become the lead character to fight crime once again. We know that. But ads help us pay the bills.
