Pakistani terrorists behind 26/11 Mumbai attacks, admits Nawaz Sharif

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's comments in a recent interview to Dawn on the country's governance and involvement in terrorism have led to furious reactions from Pakistan's military and political circles.

"The participants observed that it was very unfortunate that the opinion arising out of either misconceptions or grievances was being presented in disregard of concrete facts and realities".

The participants of the meeting said they reject the PML-N Quaid's fallacious assertions, which negated the truth.

It also stated that India denied Pakistani investigators access to Ajmal Kasab, the convicted attacker who was hanged by India.

Stating that the NSC dismissed those words which were misreported, Mr Abbasi said the meeting did not condemn Mr Sharif but incorrect reporting of his interview. "Explain it to me", he had said, in a clear reference to the Mumbai killings blamed on 10 Pakistani terrorists.

"Why can't we complete the trial?"

Leading opposition leader and cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan said that Sharif was speaking the language of (Indian Prime Minister) Narendra Modi and cooperating against enemies of Pakistan to harm the country. India's position has been that the mastermind of the Mumbai attack operated from Pakistan. It said that India didn't provide any evidence, delaying conclusion of the trial in Pakistan.

'Avengers: Infinity War' scores second-biggest opening in China box office history
However, I would not be at all surprised to see Avengers 4 sneak it's way into the top two when it is released next year. That means that the opening weekend for The Fate of the Furious represented roughly 49% of it's overall China gross.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Babar Awan said Sharif had given the Indian media a reason to celebrate with his comments. With Pakistan being a nuclear state, it is a cause for worry for the global community if its prime ministers are puppets in the hands of an army that wields power without responsibility.

On Monday, Sharif stuck to his guns, telling a political rally in the northern town of Buner that a commission should be formed to probe his statement. "I want to ask our opponents and the Congress whose senior party leaders had launched a book which claimed that 26/11 attack was an RSS conspiracy".

The PM asserted that civil-military relations remain the same as before.

The National Security Committee (NSC) of Pakistan met on Monday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to discuss Sharif's "misleading media statement", the news channel reported.

However, local news channels criticized him for going against the earlier NSC statement and creating further ambiguity.

The premier chose to read out a statement at the presser and later took questions from a selected group of media persons, most of whom were television anchorpersons.

The Prime Minister Office, however, opted to stay silent as there was no announcement from the government side regarding the convening of the NSC meeting. In 2017, former Pakistan national security advisor Muhammad Ali Durrani had also admitted that the attacks at several places in Mumbai were carried out by a terrorist group based out of Pakistan.
