Potential Panthers buyer recruiting Peyton Manning to ownership group

Manning, who retired from the National Football League after the 2016 season, is said to be considering the offer from Ben Navarro, the 54-year-old billionaire chairman of Sherman Financial Group, the Charlotte Observer reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The Charlotte Observer's Joseph Person reports that SC businessman Ben Navarro has reached out to the legendary quarterback to join his group that is looking to purchase the Carolina Panthers as a limited partner.

Peyton Manning looks on prior to Super Bowl LII between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots at U.S. Bank Stadium on February 4, 2018 in Minneapolis.

Last October, Manning told Sports Illustrated that he interested in perhaps becoming "an executive role of some sort" in the NFL.

Trump promised "quite a scene" when the three men touch down. "God Bless America, the greatest nation in the world". Shortly before their arrival, the three men released a statement thanking the Trump administration.

A potential buyer for the Carolina Panthers is reportedly the latest figure to try to get Peyton Manning back into football. Both networks were willing to pay Manning up to $10 million per season.

The Panthers went on the market in January after Jerry Richardson, the team's founder and current owner, agreed to sell the franchise as he faced allegations of workplace misconduct. If the reported $2.6 billion figure is correct, it would set a new record for the highest-priced sale of any team, almost doubling the $1.4 billion that the Pegula family paid for the Bills back in 2014.

Navarro has the backing from Richardson's son, Mark, who believes he is the right man for the team. "And I can't imagine a better person being the next owner than him". The other bidders include hedge fund manager and Pittsburgh Steelers part-owner David Tepper, Canadian steel company CEO Alan Kestenbaum and e-commerce entrepreneur Michael Rubin.
