"Also due to preventative measures, neither well is expected to release any hydrogen sulfide", it said.

Lava from Hawaii's spewing Kilauea Volcano edged closer to a geothermal plant on Saturday - escalating fears of a deadly hydrogen sulphide explosion.

A lava flow from Hawaii's erupting Kilauea volcano that damaged a geothermal power station has stalled, as have lava fountains gushing 100 feet (30 meters) into the air, offering momentary relief to an area under siege for 25 days, officials said on Monday.

Lava erupts and flows from a Kilauea volcano fissure, near to the Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) plant (top right), on Hawaii's Big Island, May 21, 2018, near Pahoa, Hawaii.

The new fissure sent more lava into the to evacuated Leilani Estates district in the eastern corner of Hawaii's Big Island.

U.S. Geological Survey scientist Wendy Stovall said Friday that the summit is shooting out a plume of water vapor and ash.

This lava has covered some 2,500 acres in and around the Leilani Estates neighborhood, and several flows have reached the sea.

Contingency plans have been made for a possible helicopter evacuation of up to 1,000 residents in a coastal area south of the fissures should their last exit route be blocked by lava or become unsafe because of gaping cracks, County of Hawaii officials said. A family friend shot photos of the home as a wall of lava advanced and as fire claimed the property.

She got the call just before midnight Sunday and was able to get in this morning to watch a chapter of her life come to an end.

"From one second to the next, no transition", she said. About 2,000 people have fled their homes. NASA's Earth Observatory also shared a nighttime view of the lava flows in the form of a false-color view of the molten rock taken by the Operational Land Imager on Landsat 8.

Geologists say there's no telling when the volcanic activity might end.

This was no coincidental collision, Fredericks knew exactly what he was doing and a red card should have been given. So with Villa staying in the Championship for at least one more season, Terry will be saved the added hate for now.
