Oil Falls on Spiraling US-China Trade Dispute, Rising Output

Iran will not accept Saudi Arabia's proposal to increase crude output of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Iran's representative to the OPEC was quoted as saying Tuesday. It is said, though, that US and Saudi Arabia have been discussing ending the OPEC/non-OPEC pact long before this week's meeting and Saudi is going to propose what is in fact a USA -induced decision in Vienna.

But Goldman Sachs analysts said in a Monday note that despite an expected increase in OPEC output, weaker emerging market demand and a burgeoning trade war between the United States and China, the oil market remains in deficit.

This suggests that there has been a rebalancing after years of an overwhelming oversupply of the commodity; equally, it could also point to underlying concerns that have been evident for some time, that some members no longer wish to comply with OPEC's production cut deal. There is speculation that OPEC might undo a deal struck early a year ago to limit crude production.

"Oil prices are reversing this morning's bout of weakness as bottom pickers enter the fray ahead of this week's crucial OPEC/non-OPEC meeting", said Stephen Brennock, analyst at London brokerage PVM Oil Associates.

OPEC meets June 22 in Vienna to decide on the future of its production cut agreement, which committed the bloc, along with 10 Russia-led non-OPEC countries, to a 1.8 million b/d supply cut.

This faction is reportedly also supported by Iraq. The risk is that Saudi Arabia will choose to go it alone, boosting output.

Aquarius migrants disembark in Valencia
Each were assigned to a translator and authorities worked to determine their identities before they were sent to welcome centres. The remaining migrants arrived on an Italian coastguard ship, the Dattilo , and an Italian navy vessel, the Orione .

"We were actually preparing to raise imports according to an earlier government line", he added, referring to a Beijing policy enacted earlier this year to help reduce the United States trade deficit with China. "We will raise this issue there", the oil minister told reporters here at a CII conference.

Oil's market report for the month of June by EIA and Opec showing a stable demand growth while Non-Opec supply growth increased a bit. Shortly after, since the USA shale production wasn't able to offset the production cuts that OPEC and non-OPEC nations made, oil prices rose significantly through 2017 up to 2018 and that made the Trump administration anxious about the effect of higher prices on Trump's political stance.

Russian Federation said the total increase should be as much 1.5 million barrels.

Tankers waiting to load more than 24 million barrels of crude, nearly as much as state producer PDVSA shipped in April, are sitting off the Opec member's main oil port. Total volume traded was about 41 per cent above the 100-day average.

There are expectations for the oil cartel to consider altering a production deal that has held back 1.8 million bpd from the market for the past 18 months.

"In this meeting and the 7th Opec International Seminar, a unique assembly of Ministers, heads of intergovernmental organisations, chief executives of national and international oil companies, industry leaders, academics, energy experts and media, we will review the noteworthy progress that we are making", he stated. After yearlong rise in oil and gasoline price, there's a call to control Oil price from rising too far and too fast.
