SBS to broadcast rest of World Cup group stage

The telco cut a 2016 sub-licensing deal with SBS, which holds the rights to this and the next World Cup, that allowed Optus to screen all 64 matches at Russian Federation 2018, 39 of them exclusively.

SBS will continue simulcasting the 2018 FIFA World Cup until the end of Group Stage on Friday 29 June, with Optus Sport customers who purchased the telco's $14.95 package receiving full refunds.

"The FIFA World Cup is the absolute pinnacle of football, a sport that Australians are deeply passionate about", SBS chief executive Michael Ebeid said in a statement.

Optus's move came after Malcolm Turnbull stepped into the debate on Monday and shortly afterwards Lew, announced that SBS would broadcast all games live and free for a 48-hour period while it worked on the technical issues.

Telecommunications company Optus bought the broadcast rights for most World Cup games in Russian Federation but technical issues with the live streaming in Australia caused a major backlash from subscription buyers - to the point where the prime minister had to intervene.

The continuing problems prompted outrage among disgruntled subscribers, with Optus coming under intense scrutiny to fix the issues to the extent that even Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull personally intervened to put pressure on Lew.

"Since Monday we have continued to improve our product and Optus has delivered the last six matches without any issue".

Priest Slaps Baby Across The Face In The Middle Of Baptism
Another person said: "If that video would end with the father giving the priest a very strong bitch slap it would be ideal ". The bawling baby is being held by its mother when the elderly priest takes a grip of its head with his hand.

"As confident as we are in our capabilities, we have listened to feedback from the Australian soccer fans".

"There's no doubt this has adversely affected the Optus brand ... everybody is very disappointed, to put it mildly", an apologetic Mr Lew told reporters.

"Over the last 24 hours we have introduced a range of measures to address the technical issues experienced by some viewers".

Optus is feeling the pressure from angry Optus Sports consumers who had paid for a streaming app to watch the World Cup, only to be faced with buffering, streaming and playback issues.

Optus were also similarly confident leading up to this year's Fifa World Cup, saying before the tournament that people shouldn't be concerned with the technology. This would allow streaming of all World Cup games, including the final stages of the tournament, as well as access to the first three rounds of the English Premier League.

"We appreciate customers have given us another go and invite those to tune in for tonight's games", he said.

Another said: "Thank you Optus Sport".
