Days before Trump-Putin meet, Russian spies indicted for 2016 poll hacking

A United States grand jury charged 12 Russian "intelligence officers" with breaching the Democratic party's computer networks in an election hacking case, Reuters reported.

Referring to remarks from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Friday, Stone said, "Look, Rosenstein said in his comments that they knew of no crime by U.S. citizens".

The Kremlin, meanwhile, denied anew that it tried to sway the election.

Stone also said on CNN that he would like for the indicted Russian military officers to be extradited "so that we can have a trial, so the DNC server can be examined and so this charge can be proven or disproven".

Trump was previously informed about the indictments, Rosenstein said.

Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said on Twitter that it was time to end the Mueller investigation since "no Americans are involved" in Friday's indictment.

"The stories you hear about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administration", the president tweeted.

Democratic leaders immediately called for Trump to cancel Monday's scheduled meeting with Putin in Helsinki, but the White House said the summit would go ahead.

USA intelligence agencies concluded in January 2017 that Russian Federation, in action ordered by Putin, used propaganda and hacking to meddle in the election to harm Clinton and eventually help Trump.

Manafort mugshot revealed after he’s moved to new jail
The special counsel said Manafort's actions violated federal law, and therefore violated the terms of his pretrial release. Manafort is innocent and nothing about the latest allegation changes our defense", Manafort spokesman Jason Maloni said.

Unit 74455, also known as the Main Centre for Special Technology, engineered the release of the stolen documents through a website it created called DCLeaks and the online persona Guccifer 2.0, according to the indictment.

The indictment documents extensive cooperation between the Russian hackers and the unnamed "Organization 1".

Department of Homeland Security officials have said there is no evidence of any election results being tampered with during the 2016 intrusions.

Some researchers said the indictment might have depended on U.S. signals intelligence, the fruits of which are rarely revealed because it quotes electronic messages sent to an unidentified organization presumed to be London-based WikiLeaks. Back in 2016, Wikileaks published a DNC email dump that disclosed private conversations.

The indictment alleges that beginning in March 2016, the GRU agents began targeting over 300 employees and volunteers of the Clinton campaign, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and the DNC.

Social networking site Twitter Inc. on Saturday suspended two accounts linked to 12 Russian spies indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for interfering in the 2016 USA presidential election.

"With that said, that would hurt the argument that when the wide breadth of these emails were released that Roger was in frequent communicado with the Trump campaign because I don't believe he was", Nunberg added.

"The Russians are nailed". It had been sought by special counsel Robert Mueller.

"There is no allegation in the indictment that any American was a knowing participant in the alleged unlawful activity or knew they were communicating with Russian intelligence officers", Rosenstein said.
