Elon Musk outburst puts Tesla board on the spot

Elon Musk outburst puts Tesla board on the spot

Before the rescue began, Musk tweeted that he would send a team of engineers to help with the extraction of the team from the cave.

What followed was a week of slightly unhinged claims, insults and complaints from Musk. Earlier this month, Musk criticized the media for "negative" coverage of Tesla, and in May said he would create a site where people could rate the trustworthiness of an article and track journalists' "credibility score".

However, hours later, a dive team began extracting the children and did not use the submarine. The drop from $318.87 to $307.20 translates into a $2 billion loss from the company's market value, but it could also signal the beginning of the end for Musk, if we're to believe more somber analysts.

What's weird about Musk's tweet is that it came on July 15, a full five days after the boys were rescued.

"He can stick his submarine where it hurts", Unsworth told CNN.

Unsworth, who provided mapping knowledge of the cave to rescuers, said Musk's prototype would have had "absolutely no chance of working". "He had no conception of what the cave passage was like,"said Unsworth". Rigid", he said. "So it wouldn't have gone around corners or around any obstacles.

In the video, an interviewer asks Unsworth about his thoughts on Elon Musk's idea. Musk responded on Twitter on July 10, calling Osottanakorn "not the subject matter expert". The tweet has been deleted. He wrote that he was escorted into the cave by Thai Navy Seals - "total opposite of wanting us to leave". "And so essentially if you attack me, it is therefore OK for me to attack back", Musk said.

5 most ridiculous moments from that disturbing Trump-Putin press conference
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) contradicted the president, saying there was "no question" about Russia's election interference. The damage inflicted by President Trump's naivete, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is hard to calculate.

Until recently, Twitter and Musk's personality worked well for Tesla. But then, midway through his rant, he inexplicably accuses Unsworth of sex crimes. "Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it", Musk concluded. In a second tweet, Musk said he bet the claim was true.

Mark Stephens, a partner at London law firm, Howard Kennedy, said: "It's a cast iron case of libel and [Unsworth] will undoubtedly be able to sue. I'll take advice when I get back to London", Unsworth told 9News. "The challenge is that he would have to find assets of Musk's outside of the America". "Well." He cleared his throat. It all started when the Tesla CEO put forward a host of suggestions to rescue the 12 young boys stuck in a cave in Thailand, including the construction of a miniature submarine. Reuters could not reach Unsworth for comment. "I think people realise what sort of guy he is", he said.

Unsworth said he was considering taking legal action against Musk, but the fallout could be wider and more significant.

Musk has for years said he is proudly, aggressively unfocused - a billionaire known for his visionary ventures in electric cars, underground supertrains, artificial intelligence and space travel. "Yes, it's not finished".

A spokesperson for Tesla declined to comment when Business Insider inquired about the political donations.

Robert Drechsel, who taught media law at the University of Wisconsin, said if he were Tesla's attorney, he would advise the CEO to stop tweeting.
