Rudy Giuliani touts Russian hacking indictments as 'good news for all Americans'

United States intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation, in an effort ordered by Putin, used propaganda and hacking to meddle in the election in an effort to harm Clinton and eventually help Trump.

The news comes the same day that Rosenstein announced charges against 12 Russian intelligence officials for allegedly hacking the Democratic National Committee.

Rosenstein noted that the people named in the indictments hacked the DNC and the chairman of Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta.

The Kremlin denied anew that it tried to sway the election. GRU units 26165 and 74455, the indictment says, "conducted large-scale cyber operations to interfere with the 2016 presidential election". The case follows after a separate indictment that accused Russians of using social media to sow discord among American voters.

By June 2016, the defendants, relying on fictional personas like DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0, began planning the release of tens of thousands of stolen emails, the indictment alleges.

"As I testified before the House Intelligence Committee under oath, my 24 word exchange with someone on Twitter claiming to be Guccifer 2.0 is benign based on its content, context and timing", Stone said when reached by ABC News late Friday.

CNN's Russia investigation reporter Marshall Cohen said, by CNN's count, that Mueller has filed "191 criminal charges against 35 defendants", including "112 new charges brought today against a dozen Russian operatives for hacking".

The hacking group also conspired to break into state boards of election, data firms that create election software, and other voting-related targets, according to the indictment.

Journalists waiting for a major announcement by Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein Friday suddenly quieted, straining to hear a voice among them.

Attorney Ken White, a former federal prosecutor, weighs Trump's comments and the apparent Russian reaction and wonders if what he said might amount to aiding and abetting a crime.

Cat and mouse: Though the indictment says they used hundreds of different e-mail accounts with fake names to handle Bitcoin payments and cover their tracks, investigators linked messages from "several dedicated email accounts" to corresponding transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain. But with Mueller still investigating, it's not known whether further indictments are taking shape or will.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's wide-net Russian Federation investigation has officially resulted in 191 criminal charges against 35 defendants, and that count may only rise.

Defendants include four former Trump campaign and White House aides, three of whom have pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate, and 13 Russians accused in a powerful social media campaign to sway US public opinion in 2016.

It was the most detailed United States accusation yet that Russian Federation meddled in the election with the eventual aim of trying to boost Republican Trump's campaign. "Anything you do, it's always going to be, 'Oh, Russia, he loves Russia'".

Hours later, the Main Intelligence Directorate in Moscow appeared to heed the call - targeting Clinton's personal office and hitting more than 70 other Clinton campaign accounts.

Hours before the Justice Department announcement, Mr Trump complained anew that the special counsel's investigation is complicating his efforts to forge a better working relationship with Russian Federation.

It was unclear whether the indictment might factor into Trump's meeting with Putin on Monday.
