Samsung phones are randomly sending photos to contacts

One user complains of scheduled texts appearing in wrong threads or being sent prematurely, while others say their phones spontaneously sent other people random photos, or, in a few instances, the entire contents of their photo galleries. The problem turned up on Reddit, spotted by Gizmodo, and then found its way to Samsung's official forums.

In the meantime, Samsung users can do either one of two things to prevent photos from being sent out: either revoke Samsung Messages' ability to access story via your phone's app settings, or switch to a different texting app like Android Messages. Samsung Messages is the default messaging app on Samsung phones.

A Samsung spokesperson told The Verge it's "aware of the reports" and that its technical teams are 'looking into it'.

This doesn't seem to be an isolated case as some users have commented in the same post that they too have experienced the problem. "However, there was record of it [in my] T-Mobile logs".

For now, it is recommended that users do not update to the latest Samsung Messages app until Samsung fixes the issues.

Another S9+ punter chipped in: "Oddly enough, my wife's phone did that last night, and mine did it the night before". Unfortunately, these updates may have interacted badly with Samsung's Messages app, according to the report. The Samsung Messages app doesn't show any sign of sending the photos, meaning the user is completely unaware of the picture messaging. The few reports of this bug indicate that the phones are sending the messages without the app recording any trace of an outgoing message. "Concerned customers are encouraged to contact us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG".

Both persons are on the same T-Mobile plan and it seems like anecdotes from other Redditors share this couples dynamic.
