USA plans to remove backup power generators in Puerto Rico

Video emerged this week of the incident on the Northwest Side in which a man threatens, and curses at a woman for wearing a shirt with the Puerto Rican flag at a pavilion she had reserved for a birthday party.

Puerto Rico is a USA territory and residents of Puerto Rico are US citizens, but they can't vote in presidential elections and have no voting representation in Congress.

On Tuesday, the Forest Preserves of Cook County posted to Facebook that the man was charged with assault and disorderly conduct. The video shows a man angrily approaching a woman who is filming him as he yells "You're not gonna change us" while a nearby police officer stands by his vehicle and looks away as the distressed woman calls out for help.

"This is what I'm wearing guys", she says revealing her outfit as a man yells at her in the background.

The police officer turned and walked back to his police vehicle without responding, as the irate man followed her out onto the grass. "You should be wearing United States of America flag", he said.

'The United States of America is a nation that was built and thrives on diversity, ' Rosello continued in a separate tweet.

Then he gets in the woman's face, demanding to know if she's a citizen. "She also says, "Officer, I feel entirely uncomfortable, can you remove ... please officer" as the officer casually walks away from her".

A female officer then intervenes and explains that Irizarry has a permit.

"Officer, I'm renting, I paid for a permit for this area", she adds. She says they finished 16 homes in 10 days.

Did North Korea's Kim put potatoes over Pompeo?
There was little optimism ahead of Mike Pompeo's trip to Pyongyang last week, and little clarity on exactly what he was expected to come away with.

The statement added, "All people are welcome in the Forest Preserves of Cook County and no one should feel unsafe while visiting our preserves".

Puerto Rico's governor, Ricardo Rosselló, posted a string of tweets Monday night calling the video "an undignified event in which a Puerto Rican woman was brutally harassed by a bigot while an officer did not interfere".

More police arrive and Irizarry says she still doesn't feel safe.

The female officer then interviews Irizzary, who tells her that the first officer on the scene stood "watching the whole thing happen".

"After the June 14 incident, we immediately launched an investigation pursuant to our personnel policies into the response of our officer".

Let's imagine if a white woman said she was being harassed by a Black or Latin person, the police would have dragged them to jail, tased or even shot him. Now, an investigation has been opened into the incident, where the man-who was visibly drunk-verbally berated the woman and called her shirt un-American.

Cummings said the public demands from elected officials for Connor to be fired are unfair and could prejudice the investigation against the officer.

Gov. Rossello wrote on Twitter that he is "appalled, shocked & disturbed by the officer's behavior..."

Luis Arroyo, Jr., a Cook County Board Commissioner said he felt the officer "did not do his duty". "In this case, a U.S. citizen questions the citizenship of another USA citizen and American law-enforcement just sits back and watches".
