France Youngster Matteo Guendouzi Hints At Transfer To Arsenal

Arsenal close in on a new midfield player, as we round-up the latest transfer rumours on Thursday, July 5.

The transfer - rumoured to be in the £26 million region - was in advanced stages last month but hit delays when Torreira joined up with the Uruguayan squad for this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Jakub Jankto has joined Sampdoria from Udinese, a move which seems to be paving the way for Lucas Torreira's move to Arsenal.

Torreira, 22, has confirmed that he is flying to London for a medical with the Gunners in an opportunity he says he "can't waste".

Speaking to Fox Argentina, Ricardo Torreira said his son's move to the Emirates Stadium would go through "if nothing unusual happens".

Mass protest in Israel over ‘discriminating’ nation-state law
Tens of thousands of Israelis demonstrated against Israel's controversial nation-state law Saturday in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square. The new law also downgrades Arabic from an official language in Israel to a language with "special status".

"Arsenal offered to do the medical examinations in Russian Federation but we decided against it because we felt it was inconvenient, it is not the right time".

The Lucas Torreira deal was awaiting confirmation from David Ornstein and it's great to see that it has finally come.

Defensive midfielder Torreira, 22, will help bolster the ranks further, having played in all five matches for Uruguay as they reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Russian Federation, while teenager Guendouzi brings with him great potential.

The BBC's David Ornstein tweeted shortly after the full-time whistle that Torreira has agreed on a deal with Arsenal and that his signing and a medical is "imminent".

Emery is unlikely to add any more first team players to his squad unless other players leave, with Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Berndt Leno and Stephan Lichtsteiner all arriving in the past few weeks.
