'Avengers: Infinity War' scores second-biggest opening in China box office history

Infinity War had another record-breaking weekend at the box office, highlighted by a $200 million opening debut in China and passing the $1 billion mark for foreign receipts.

With Thursday previews bringing in $39 million (Rs 263 crore), Infinity War crossed the previous Marvel record of $27 million, set by Age of Ultron. It's now the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time, but that won't last.

Hit film Avengers: Infinity War is doing just as well for IMAX as it is for Marvel Studios: the company announces that the film - the first ever to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras - is the best-ever IMAX opening for a Marvel title and the third largest IMAX opening of all time. To celebrate, Marvel Studios has dropped the prices on many of its superhero movies to $10 on digital platforms, including Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu.

He also said that the work has begun on the detailed project report for linking Kathmandu to India via rail network. Adityanath received the Janakpur-Ayodhya Bus flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

During the weekend, AIW raced past the lifetime domestic total of films such as Beauty and the Beast ($504 million), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ($532 million) and The Dark Knight ($534 million) to become the eighth-highest domestic release of all-time. In Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop Thanos, who is trying to collect the Infinity Stones. That means that the opening weekend for The Fate of the Furious represented roughly 49% of it's overall China gross. With that increase applied I get another $202 million for Infinity War in China. The third week and fourth-weekend run would be crucial to the film's final results since 20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2 is slated to release on 18 May in 4,250 locations. However, I would not be at all surprised to see Avengers 4 sneak it's way into the top two when it is released next year.
